New Orleans Saints Under Fire.....AGAIN!!!

Tsk, tsk, tsk!  Where is the sportsmanship of the game now days?  After facing scrutiny from the NFL earlier this year, the Saints are back in the news facing more allegations of unsportsman like conduct.  Allegedly Saints GM Mickey Loomis used a listening device during home games to hear play calls from opposing teams.  Check the link for more details on this story.

The Lamar Odom Saga

I couldn't think of another title...so I rolled with this one. I thought it sounded intriguing...lol.

Ok so here's the scoop....at least what I could gather. Basically, there was no mutual agreement, Mark Cuban and the Dallas Mavericks organization was tired of Lamar Odom. He was given chance after chance and they tried to work with him through his tough time of adjusting to a new environment but he just couldn't hold up his end of the deal.

It's totally understandable. People go through personal issues all the time, but at the end of the day, you still have a job to do....period. AND.....he's still getting paid! Lamar Odom is guaranteed $8.9 million this season and the Mavs will have to dish out another $2.4 million for next season! I guess the situation was just that bad....to deactivate him and still have to pay him. We keep hearing about the Mavs being 0-7 while Odom was out. Well, during that time Delonte West was out and so was Jason Kidd....I rest my case.

Lamar "Kardashian"....you put up absolutely no effort. The fans could tell in his demeanor that he just didn't give a damn about being here. Maybe basketball isn't fulfilling to him anymore....whatever the case may be our Mavs got the bad end of the deal.

I'm interested to see how this affects the hopeful acquisition of Deron Williams. Both he and Lamar share the same agent....I say his agent owes us one and convinces Williams to come on home to Dallas...IJS!

Joe Avezzano & Leon Lett...Dallas Cowboy Legacy!

Ok....I'm gonna attempt to give you a 2 for 1 with this one.

As a LIFETIME Dallas Cowboy fan; win, lose, or draw, it saddens me to hear that legendary specal teams coach Joe Avezzano has passed away of a heart attack.  Everybody knows Coach Joe!  Running up and down the sidelines with that long white hair just flowing......I was so upset when Bill Parcells came along and Joe was gone.  Joe helped lead the Dallas Cowboys to 3 Superbowls in 4 years....a great accomplishment for America's favorite team.  Coach Joe went on to become the head coach of the Dallas Desperados, Dallas, TX's arean football team and was serving as the head coach for an Italian league team at the time of his passing.  We'll never forget you Coach Joe and all of your efforts with the Dallas Cowboys.  Joe Avezzano: 1943-2012

How many of ya'll remember "The Big Cat" Leon Lett???  And not just the Thanksgiving Day "muff" against the Miami Dolphin (in which Dallas lost) either!  Or that embarassing fumble at the 10 yard line during the Superbowl (cowboys won the superbowl both years fyi!)....ok, it's not sounding too promising is it?  I'm just trying to refresh your memory!  Anyway, Leon Lett played in the NFL for 10 seasons and won 3 Superbowl rings as a defensive lineman with the Dallas Cowboys.  Now, he's back as an assistant working under Dallas' defensive line coach Brian Baker.  I think this is a great add to the team.  Lett should be able to offer some guidance to the younger Cowboys and teach them a thing or two about winning....#IJS!  I'm getting more and more anxious about the upcoming footbal season, what about you?  Visit the Dallas/Ft. Worth ESPN site for the full story. Leon Lett Back with the Cowboys.

6'8 Women's NCAA superstar Brittney Griner Returning to Baylor for Senior Year

If Brittney Griner decided she wanted to end her collegiate career today and enter the WNBA draft she could do so and easily be the number one pick.  Instead, she's decided to finish her education and attempt to lead Baylor to another run at the Women's NCAA basketball championship.  Personally, I think it's a great decision.  Already facing the terrible rumors about whether she's a boy or girl (see Brittney Griner's Gender ), Griner has a positive outlook on the 2012-2013 season.  Why not go ahead and finish school and earn your degree....on a full-paid scholarship.  Basketball will always be there.  Besides, going into the WNBA is a lot more strict than enter the male dominated world of professional athletics.  They make less, you have to be older and they would much rather you have completed your degree anyway.  This decision shows that these ladies are committed to the program and that the game and their education means a great deal to them than just a paycheck.  Sure the money is more than what they may have now, but the big payoff will definitely come with time.  Notre Dame's Skylar Diggins shot down the rumors of entering the WNBA draft on April 16th as well stating that she too was committed to the program and wanted to earn her business degree.  She also said she wasn't ready for bills.....I feel ya Skylar!  For more on the story check out NCAA Women's Basketball shining stars to finish senior year.

MLB Opening Night 2012

Today starts the official day of Major League Baseball.  The biggest game kicking off the MLB season is the Florida Marlins....excuse me, the MIAMI Marlins hosting last year's World Series Champion the St. Louis Cardinals (insert gag here...so wanted the Rangers to win).  Anywho....this first week of MLB play is sure to be an exciting one with teams getting some tremendous makeovers including new state of the art stadiums, highly anticipated new players as well as new managers hoping to lead their teams to the World Series.  To read some fun tidbits about the upcoming season check out 2012 MLB Fast Facts.  For a complete overview visit the Major League Baseball 2012 website.

Baylor Lady Bears 2012 NCAA Women's Champions!

Notre Dame lands in foul trouble early in the game putting both starters Skylar Diggins and Deveareau Peters on the bench giving the lady bears room to open up a 10 point lead through most of the first half. Brittney Griner had 9 points in the first half and guard odyssey Sims added a couple of 3's to put Baylor on top 34-28 at the end of the first half.

The fighting lady Irish entered the second half with all of their starters on the court rested and ready to play. Notre Dame came out at full force bringing the game within 4 points. Natalie Novacel had no field goals as she played in her last collegiate game. With the hustle put up by Notre Dame it just wasn't enough to hold off the undefeated Baylor Lady Bears. With under 5 minutes left in the national championship game Baylor lead by 25 points. No NCAA team men's or women's has ever went 40-0....until now! The Baylor Lady Bears becomes 7th undefeated women's NCAA team to win a national championship. As the Notre Dame Fighting Irish came as close as 6 points away from tying the game it just wasn't enough. The Lady bears outscored, out rebounded, had more assists and blocks (thanks to 6'8 Brittney Griner-Wade trophy recipient) than Notre Dame to take the title of the 2012 NCAA women's champions with a final score of 80-61. Way to go Baylor Lady Bears!!!

Notable Mentions: Baylor - Brittney Griner - 26 points, 17 rebounds; Odyssey Sims - 19 points, 7 rebounds
Notre Dame - Skylar Diggins - 20 points.

NCAA Women's Final

Baylor's Brittney Griner &  Notre Dame's Skylar Diggins.....this game has just hype around it as the men's finale with Kentucky taking down Kansas!  I'm super excited about this one.  Last year the Lady Aggies from Texas A&M University led by Danielle Adams rallied past the Fighting Irish in a close 76-70 finish.  This year Notre Dame is looking to redeem themselves from last year's upset and capture their second NCAA title in just their 3rd championship appearance.  The Baylor Lady Bears are 39-0 this season looking to make NCAA history.  In the past, teams entering into the championship game undefeated took the championship home.  Not to be bias but....I'm going for the home team....BAYLOR BEARS ALL THE WAY!  What a year!  First they have the heisman trophy winner then possibly the NCAA women's championship! Back in November Baylor defeated Notre Dame in Waco with a final score of 94-81.  Diggins had 27 points, but had 7 turnovers.  Baylor's leading lady Brittney Griner had 32 point and 14 rebounds!  I'll be back after a champion is crowned with a recap.

NBA commissioner considers raising NBA entry age

David Stern has been the NBA commisioner for 28 years and during his tenure the league has upped the age before.  Currently, NBA hopefuls have to be 19 years old during the calendar year of the draft and at least one year out of high school.  The reason?  Stern believes NBA teams would be better served if potential players spend more time developing their skill...totally understandable.  Not to mention a 19 year-old with millions of dollars at their whim is not an ideal situation for retirement planning, but hey, who's complaining!  For more on the story: David Stern wants change to age rule

NCAA 2012 Champ Kentucky rally past Kansas to claim 8th NAtional title

This year's bracket was definitely one like no other. There were a lot of upsets early in the tournament as the underdogs made their way up the bracket holding off some of the top teams. Kentucky's 67-59 win over Kansas (jayhawks) Was definitely one of the best games of the tournament with Kentucky playing just as well as some NBA teams. A great way to end the college basketball season. Click below for the full story.
