NBA commissioner considers raising NBA entry age
David Stern has been the NBA commisioner for 28 years and during his tenure the league has upped the age before. Currently, NBA hopefuls have to be 19 years old during the calendar year of the draft and at least one year out of high school. The reason? Stern believes NBA teams would be better served if potential players spend more time developing their skill...totally understandable. Not to mention a 19 year-old with millions of dollars at their whim is not an ideal situation for retirement planning, but hey, who's complaining!
